Why lovebirds?

These African very-coloured parrots are well-known for their fidelity (high fidelity) and for their tenderness. According to the legend, when one of them dies, the other one lets itself die from sadness.

How do you work out the cost of my translation?

Rates are calculated on a per source word basis (words contained in the document to translate). Rates per line, often practiced in German-speaking countries, are much less precise as the number of words per page varies from a document to another one.
Rates depend on the document (technical nature, terminological research, format, volume, deadlines…). There is an additional charge for urgent texts and work that has to be carried out on nights or weekends.

How do I figure out my word count?

In MS Word, access the "tool" menu and select "word count".
If you only have a print version, count the number of words on three consecutive lines and multiply the number of lines per page.

How long does a translation take on average?

Deadlines depend on the volume and the technical nature of the document. Some technical documents demand thorough terminological research. In that case, one or two days are needed to do preliminary research according to the type of document. I translate between 2,500 and 3,000 words per day according to the difficulty of the text. Once the translation is completed, I spend on average one day proofreading to provide you a high-quality translation.

What are the payment deadlines? What methods of payment do you accept?

All invoices are due within 30 days of the invoice day. Unpaid invoices will be subject to a 10% service charge and a 25 € penalty, without any prior notification. Each order which amount is exceeding 500 € can be submitted to a deposit.
Bank transfer and PayPal are the only accepted methods of payment.

Do you also translate legal documents?

No. Only sworn translators are authorized to translate legal documents like birth certificates and marriage certificates.
